Illinois Fox Trotter Horse Association

The IFTHA is hosting a Gaited Horse Clinic with Gary Lane on June 26 – 27 at Big Creek Riding Center in Mt. Zion, IL.

The topics covered will teach you how to:

• Read Your Horse’s Gait From the Ground and in the Saddle
• Get to Know Your Horse’s Mouth for Better Gaiting
• Find a Smooth, Easy Gait Naturally
• Keep Your Gaited Horse Gaiting

This clinic is for anyone who wants to learn how to feel and understand the smooth easy gaits of their gaited horse be it Tennessee Walking Horse, Missouri Fox Trotter, or Rocky Mountain Horse. A mix of general horsemanship techniques and principles of classical riding will be taught. These techniques apply to both trail and show riders who want to improve their horse’s natural gait and enjoy a safe and smooth ride.

Gary has worked with many gaited horses over the years, and is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge of the novice and professional horse trainer, to develop a free going horse with a smooth, easy gait. He has the ability to break the training down into easy steps creating a positive learning experience for the horse and rider.

The February IFTHA General Membership meeting will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, February 21 at TAPS Equestrian Center, 104 River Oaks Road, Camargo, IL. This meeting is our main planning meeting for the year. If you can’t make it to the meeting please be sure to let a BOD member know what activities you would like the IFTHA to host this year and how you would like to help.

You are encouraged to come at noon to eat lunch and visit with fellow IFTHA members. We will order from Monical’s Pizza in Villa Grove so be sure to RSVP to Sandie Kappes at 217-684-2088 or email if you are planning to eat.
